Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, addressed several significant issues on her Twitter account this week, including her support for extending Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits and her response to a shooting involving Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents outside a Portland hospital.
On January 8, 2026, Salinas announced her vote to extend ACA tax credits: “I proudly voted to extend the lifesaving ACA tax credits that so many Americans rely on. Hear more from me https://t.co/azhAuTEyW9”.
The following day, she responded to an incident involving CBP agents: “I am aware of a situation involving CBP agents shooting two people outside of Adventist Health Hospital in Portland this afternoon, and I am in communication with state and local officials. As details continue to emerge, I urge all Oregonians to remain calm and peaceful.”
Later that same day, Salinas reiterated her demand for accountability regarding the incident: “Two people were shot in Portland. What happened was not okay, and I am demanding full transparency that includes state and local officials in the investigation. We must restore safety and peace in our communities. https://t.co/466zsKTEXf”
