Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several issues on her official social media account, focusing on child care costs, the rising cost of living, and opportunities for internships in her office.
On February 20, 2026, Salinas highlighted the financial burden that child care places on families: “Families are paying as much for child care as for their mortgage costs. Hear from real Oregon families about the cost of child care and how I am fighting to make it more affordable https://t.co/LjsosVtnmO”
Later that same day, she commented on national economic challenges under President Donald Trump’s administration: “Donald Trump promised to lower the high cost of living in America on day one. More than a year into Trump’s 2nd term, costs are out of control on everything from housing to health care and, sadly, so much more. That is why I am committed to bringing financial relief to everyday”
On February 21, 2026, Salinas encouraged constituents interested in public service to consider an internship with her office: “Curious about working in government? Want to give back to our community? If this sounds like you, then you should apply for an internship with my office! Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Apply here https://t.co/64rpT0kHQu”
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously holding a seat in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994.
