Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on October 6, 2025, addressing child health care, mental illness awareness, and the ongoing government shutdown.
In her first post on National Child Health Day, Salinas stated: “On National Child Health Day, we should be focused on ensuring children have access to high-quality & affordable care. Sadly, Republicans have shut down the government, jeopardizing health care for Americans. Children are the future, & we must safeguard health care so they lead” (October 6, 2025).
Later that day, she marked Mental Illness Awareness Week with a message encouraging support and resource sharing: “Today marks the beginning of Mental Illness Awareness Week We are stronger when we support one another, reduce stigma, and share potentially life-saving resources. Remember, you are not alone. The @988Lifeline is always available to provide free, confidential help.” (October 6, 2025).
In a third tweet discussing the government shutdown and its connection to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Salinas invited followers to learn more: “How did we get to a government shutdown and why is it related to the Affordable Care Act? Let’s talk about it and how it will impact you. Watch and share my full explainer. https://t.co/LThc4tbwbb” (October 6, 2025).
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously representing constituents in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
