Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, representing Oregon’s 6th District since 2023, addressed several issues in a series of posts on March 25, 2026, including child mental health and recent legislative actions.
In her first post, Salinas highlighted concerns about the impact of social media on children’s mental health. She stated, “The verdict is in, and it confirms what we’ve known all along: social media can lead to mental distress for children. As co-chair of the Mental Health Caucus, I won’t stop fighting to protect our children’s wellbeing.” (March 25, 2026).
Later that day, Salinas invited the public to participate in an online discussion about voting rights. She wrote, “Join me, @RepJoeMorelle, @ORSecretaryRead, and Bill Burgess, Marion County Clerk, for a VIRTUAL roundtable talk about defending our constitutional rights to the ballot box Monday, March 30, 2026 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm PT https://t.co/aCpbDJPKNV https://t.co/kraYSRo3Kh” (March 25, 2026).
In a third post later that evening, Salinas criticized Republican lawmakers over cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). She posted: “12,300 Oregonians could die unnecessarily — all because Republicans cut $187 billion from SNAP to fund tax breaks for their billionaire buddies. Republicans knew the cost of these cuts. They still voted yes.” (March 25, 2026).
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since January 2023 after previously holding office in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard at age 53, she holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
