Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of issues on her official Twitter account, including concerns about church-state separation, federal funding for rural education, and Armed Forces Day.
On May 15, Salinas questioned the appropriateness of a planned event by former President Donald Trump: “Trump is hosting an event on the National Mall that violates the separation of church and state. I want to hear from you. Do you agree with this event?”
The following day, she announced new federal support for local students: ” 850,000 DOLLARS is heading to the rural students of Yamhill and Polk counties For too long, Oregon’s rural communities have been asked to do more with less. On May 16, Salinas marked Armed Forces Day with a message recognizing military service members: “On Armed Forces Day we honor the many brave men and women who answered the call to serve in the U.S. military. We are eternally grateful for your patriotic service in support of our freedom.”
Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously representing her community in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
