Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently addressed a range of issues on her social media account, including rising grocery costs, teen dating violence, and the detention of minors by immigration authorities.
On February 8, 2026, Salinas posted: “The team you are rooting for should be breaking records, not your grocery bill.” This statement comes amid ongoing concerns about inflation and its impact on household expenses.
The following day, February 9, she highlighted the prevalence of abuse among teenagers during Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. In her post she stated: “Teen dating violence affects almost 10% of all U.S. teenagers. This Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, let’s emphasize awareness, education, and prevention — giving young folks the tools needed to have healthy relationships and end cycles of abuse.”
Later that same day, Salinas shared a quote from a minor detained by immigration authorities: ‘”I feel so much sadness and depression of not being able to leave.” That’s what Gabby, a 14-year-old, said about being locked in an ICE detention facility. Children like Gabby should be at school with their friends, not locked up with strangers.’
Salinas was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. She previously served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023 before being elected to Congress. Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree.
