Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, used her Twitter account in recent days to comment on economic hardship, Pride Month, and labor issues affecting nurses.
On May 30, Salinas wrote, “Americans are barely making it by each month. This isn’t the American dream — this is a nightmare.”
On June 1, she posted about LGBTQI+ rights and Pride Month, “Happy Pride Month, #OR06! We honor our LGBTQI+ community members and celebrate the progress we’ve made toward equality. Yet, more work must be done — as a Vice Chair of the @EqualityCaucus, I will continue fighting towards a more welcoming nation for all.”
Later that day, Salinas highlighted her engagement with local healthcare workers, “I met with Oregon Nurses Association labor leaders alongside @RepBonamici to see firsthand the work that our dedicated nurses are doing to deliver quality patient care. Our nurses tirelessly work long hours day in and day out and deserve fair pay, adequate staffing, and”
Salinas’ remarks come as she continues her legislative role after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and now residing in Tigard at age 53, Salinas holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley (1994).
