Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, posted a series of statements on her Twitter account between January 12 and January 13, 2026, addressing environmental protection, education policy, and recent political developments.

On January 12, Salinas marked the anniversary of a major environmental regulation: “25 years ago today, the Roadless Rule was implemented, providing critical environmental protection for nearly 60 million acres of our pristine public lands. However, the Trump Admin has begun rolling back these protections — undermining the climate, wildlife, and natural wonders” (January 12, 2026).

The following day, she highlighted her efforts to support students pursuing mental health careers: “I led 25 colleagues in a bipartisan letter urging the Dept. of Education to reduce barriers for students pursuing mental health careers. Excluding mental health professionals from the ‘professional degree’ definition limits their access to loans and funding and worsens” (January 13, 2026).

Later that same day, Salinas commented on recent actions by public officials: “When one person does the right thing, it inspires others to do the same. Thank you to Chair Powell for standing strong against Trump’s threats, and thank you to Senators Murkowski and Tillis for holding firm. I hope you inspire your colleagues to do the same.” (January 13, 2026).

Andrea Salinas was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. She earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994. Before joining Congress in 2023, she served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023.
