Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on September 4, 2025, addressing issues ranging from the arrest of a wildland firefighter to economic concerns and addiction recovery.
In her first post on September 4, Salinas criticized the Trump Administration for its handling of a local emergency responder: “Arresting a firefighter does not make our communities safer. I just called out the Trump Administration for their arrest and unconstitutional treatment of my constituent, a wildland firefighter who was working to stop the Bear Gulch Fire. Later that day, she commented on Americans’ economic outlook and federal policy: “Americans who say they have a good chance of improving their standard of living fell to 25% — the lowest level on record since 1987. Tariffs and rising prices are taking our country in the wrong direction. We need solutions, not more roadblocks.”
In her final post that evening, Salinas highlighted addiction recovery efforts during Recovery Month: “Addiction is not the end of the story — new beginnings are possible through treatment and support. This Recovery Month, let’s fight the stigma and fund the care that saves lives. If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction, check out these resources “
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously representing constituents in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard, Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in 1994.
