Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, posted a series of statements on October 3, 2025, regarding the ongoing government shutdown attributed to Republican lawmakers.
In her first post at 19:05 UTC, Salinas announced an upcoming event for constituents: “On Monday, October 6, 2025, at 5:00 PM PT, I will be hosting a LIVE telephone town hall for you! Join the conversation to hear updates from me about what is going on with the Republicans’ shutdown.
You must RSVP at https://t.co/LqQD7VSdHM or (503) 385-0906 to receive a phone https://t.co/sRmKVDVs62“
Later that day at 20:31 UTC, she addressed healthcare costs and criticized Republican leadership: “Here is the thing, Americans want lower costs and affordable health care.
Republicans are not listening and turning their backs on their constituents.
@HouseDemocrats are united in this fight. https://t.co/UjpfeqXUFC“
At 23:50 UTC on the same day, Salinas commented directly on the shutdown’s progression and accused Republicans of misinformation: “It’s October 3rd. The third day of Republicans’ dirty shutdown.
And I want to do a little Friday fact check because I hear that they are spreading misinformation… AKA… LIES about their shutdown. https://t.co/KAooKJZycx”
Salinas has served in Congress since January 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
