Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to address a range of issues from athletic achievement to gun violence.
On December 12, 2025, Salinas posted about recognizing an accomplishment in collegiate sports: “I spoke on the House Floor today to congratulate George Fox University Women’s Golf Head Coach MaryJo McCloskey on her induction into the Women’s Golf Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame. Two days later, following reports of violence at an academic institution, Salinas expressed condolences and called for action: “I’m heartbroken by the news of a shooting at Brown University. As the parent of a college student, I cannot imagine what the families of the victims are feeling tonight. It’s time we put an end to gun violence.” (December 14, 2025).
That same day, she reflected on the anniversary of a national tragedy: “13 years ago, we lost 26 precious lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School. These senseless tragedies should never have become routine. As a parent, I refuse to stay silent while children are at risk. I’ll keep working to pass commonsense gun safety legislation and protect our” (December 14, 2025).
