Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of health and civil rights issues in a series of posts on December 1, 2025.
In her first message of the day, Salinas marked Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) Awareness Month by noting the impact of shorter and colder days during fall and winter. She wrote, “December is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) Awareness Month. SAD is most common in the fall and winter months when we experience shorter and colder days. Symptoms often resolve by spring, but may include fatigue, mood changes, and anxiety. Learn more about SAD “ (posted December 1, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Salinas commemorated a pivotal moment in American civil rights history. She stated, “70 years ago today, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. Her courageous act was a catalyst for change. Rosa Parks’ profound influence in the pursuit of civil rights continues to guide us towards a more just and equal nation.” (posted December 1, 2025).
In her final post of the day for World AIDS Day, Salinas honored those affected by HIV/AIDS while calling for continued action against stigma and support for research efforts: “On World AIDS Day, we remember and honor the lives lost to HIV/AIDS and renew our commitment to ending HIV/AIDS once and for all. We must work together to end stigma, advance innovative treatments, and find a cure. #WorldAIDSDay” (posted December 1, 2025).
Andrea Salinas has served as Oregon’s representative since 2023 after previously working in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023.
