Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing immigration detention health care, technological investment in Oregon, and inflation linked to foreign policy.

On May 28, 2026, Salinas expressed concern about conditions in immigration detention facilities. She stated, “People in immigration detention facilities are not receiving the mental and physical health care they need. Mental health care is a basic necessity, and no one, and I mean no one, should be alone to face their darkest moment. Ever.”

Later that day, Salinas highlighted her support for technological advancement at an educational institution in Oregon. She wrote, “I was excited to stop by the Oregon Institute of Technology to deliver over $1M for their Quantum Devices & Computing Initiative! To ensure that Oregon continues to be a leader in innovation, we must fund quantum technologies while providing educational and workforce”.

In another post on May 28, Salinas commented on economic issues related to international conflict: “Here is the thing: Inflation is only going to keep rising as long as Trump continues to prioritize his illegal war with Iran.”

Andrea Salinas was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Before her tenure in Congress beginning in 2023, she served from 2017 to 2023 in the Oregon House of Representatives. Salinas earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
