Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to address issues ranging from immigration enforcement to paid leave for military families and federal employees.
On February 5, 2026, Salinas expressed concern about the impact of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. She stated, “Across the Willamette Valley, ICE has made people scared to leave their homes. Our government should be protecting us, not terrorizing us.”
Later that day, Salinas highlighted her legislative efforts aimed at supporting military families. She wrote, “I recently introduced legislation to support military families by granting paid leave to military spouses who are federal employees and relocating with their active-duty spouse. In a related post marking the anniversary of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), she noted its historical significance and called for expanded benefits: “The #FMLA passed 33 years ago today. It has allowed millions of Americans to take leave for family or medical reasons without the fear of losing their jobs. Now, we need to pass legislation providing paid leave so that all hardworking Americans can afford to take time off when”
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard, she graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in 1994.
