Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, posted a series of statements on December 4, 2025, addressing issues ranging from immigration enforcement transparency to health care and labor rights.
In her first post, Salinas stated: “Just got off the floor to call out President Trump and his Administration’s desperate attempts to hide the truth about what is happening inside ICE facilities. I visited the Tacoma ICE facility, where ICE tried to lie to my face. I won’t let them get away with it. Hear my full https://t.co/9pZsiicFrB” (December 4, 2025).
Later that evening, she addressed health care policy efforts by House Democrats: “ALL @HouseDemocrats have signed a discharge petition to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits. We just need a few, reasonable Republicans to join us to STOP massive premium increases that will make health care UNAFFORDABLE for millions of Americans.” (December 4, 2025).
Salinas also commemorated Cesar Chavez’s legacy in labor rights: “On this day in 1970, Cesar Chavez was jailed for his work defending the rights of farmworkers. His courageous efforts helped transform labor justice in America. Today, 55 years later, we honor his legacy and recommit to fighting for fair treatment of all workers and laborers.” (December 4, 2025).
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously holding office in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in 1994.
