Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of issues affecting her constituents through a series of posts on her official social media account.
On January 28, 2026, Salinas highlighted the case of a young U.S. citizen and her mother navigating the immigration system. She wrote, “Génesis Ester Gutiérrez Castellanos is a 5-year-old U.S. citizen. Karen Guadalupe, her mother, applied for a U Visa after surviving abuse — a visa meant to protect victims. This mother trusted the very system that would fail to protect them.”
Later that day, Salinas commented on rising consumer costs in Oregon after shopping with one of her constituents: “I went grocery shopping with my constituent Sue. We were shocked at how much more expensive life has become for Oregonians. See how much more expensive your favorite foods got https://t.co/44H8N21mP6” The post draws attention to inflation and its impact on everyday expenses for residents in the state.
In another message posted on January 28, Salinas referenced legislative decisions made during the previous summer: “Remember the massive cuts made over the summer from the Big, Ugly Bill? Those cuts to your health care were used to fund ICE.” The congresswoman raised concerns about reallocations from healthcare funding toward immigration enforcement.
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously representing her community in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard, she earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
