Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023 and previously served in the Oregon House of Representatives, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing issues ranging from immigration to healthcare policy and civil rights.
On February 12, 2026, Salinas highlighted concerns regarding the detention of minors by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating: “Ariana is a 14-year-old who was detained by ICE. Her story is heartbreaking. Children are being traumatized by this Administration. Is this the nation we want to be? Watch my full remarks https://t.co/IIkaUmGleh”.
The following day, she marked the anniversary of a prominent civil rights organization, posting: “The @NAACP was founded on this day in 1909. Today, we celebrate their work in advancing Black Americans’ rights in the fight towards a more equal and just nation for every American. Thank you for over a century of your unwavering commitment!” (February 13, 2026).
Later that same day, Salinas criticized recent legislative efforts affecting healthcare funding: “Republicans’ Big Ugly Law includes $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid. I’m being dead serious. Salinas was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard at age 53. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in 1994.
