Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023 and previously served in the Oregon House of Representatives, recently addressed several issues affecting her constituents through a series of posts on her official social media account.
On January 28, 2026, Salinas shared an incident involving federal immigration officers detaining an Oregon family seeking emergency medical care for their child. She wrote, “An Oregon family took their 7-year-old to the emergency room, but they never made it inside. Federal immigration officers detained them in the hospital parking lot. Arresting a child seeking urgent treatment is CRUEL and indefensible. Is this what the Trump Administration” (January 28, 2026).
Later that day, Salinas announced efforts to assist constituents navigating federal agencies by offering mobile casework hours at a local community center. She stated, “Navigating a federal agency can be a long and difficult process. That is why my staff is holding mobile casework hours TOMORROW at Center 50+ in Salem from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM PT. In another post on January 28, Salinas emphasized the importance of infrastructure investment for Oregon’s agricultural sector and broader economy. She wrote, “Oregon has a strong ag industry, and maintaining our roads and bridges is essential to supporting our economy and connecting our communities. That’s why I secured federal funding to keep our infrastructure safe and reliable, and I’ll keep working to bring in more resources for” (January 28, 2026).
Andrea Salinas was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard at age 53. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
