Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently used her social media platform to highlight a range of issues including immigration, military service opportunities for youth, and mental health awareness.
On May 2, 2026, Salinas attended a rally at the State Capitol and shared her support for immigrants. In her post she stated: “I joined the #DayWithoutAnImmigrant rally outside our State Capitol. Immigrants are our coworkers, neighbors, and friends. They do not deserve to be terrorized by the Trump Administration.”
Later that day, Salinas reached out to young people interested in military service with an announcement about an upcoming event. She wrote: “Are you a young person who is interested in serving in our nation’s Armed Forces? I’ll be hosting a virtual Military Service Academy Information Day on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 11 AM to 12 PM PST. RSVP at OR06MilAcademy2026@mail.house.gov to secure your spot to learn about”.
On May 4, Salinas marked Mental Health Awareness Month by highlighting ongoing efforts in Congress. She posted: “May is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, an opportunity to raise awareness about the mental health challenges that millions of Americans face As co-chair of the bipartisan Mental Health Caucus, I’m fighting to reduce stigma and ensure everybody can access affordable, high-quality”.
Salinas has served as a federal legislator since 2023 after previously holding office in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard at age 53, she earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
