Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on September 29, 2025, addressing mental health resources, health care costs, and the looming threat of a federal government shutdown.
In her first post of the day, Salinas highlighted the importance of mental health awareness as Suicide Prevention and Recovery Month concluded. She stated, “As #SuicidePrevention & #RecoveryMonth wrap up, we must commit to sharing potentially lifesaving resources every day. I will keep working to ensure that anyone in need can access affordable, quality care. #MentalHealthMonday You can access support at https://t.co/CoRcDyVbp7 and” (September 29, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Salinas addressed concerns about health care affordability and the potential impact of expiring Affordable Care Act tax credits. She wrote, “16,000 Oregonians will see their health care costs soar if Republicans do not extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. AND 15 million Americans will lose their health insurance thanks to President Trump & Republicans’ Big, Ugly SCAM. They’re not in the business of working https://t.co/nQnAvWM2Jf” (September 29, 2025).
That evening, Salinas commented on the status of federal budget negotiations and criticized Republican leadership for cancelling votes ahead of a possible government shutdown. She posted, “TIME IS TICKING!!! Where are Republicans? They’re at home because Speaker Johnson CANCELLED votes, knowing we are ONE DAY away from a federal shutdown that would leave workers & troops without pay, medicaid recipients without assistance, & the list really does go on. This is on” (September 29, 2025).
Salinas has served as Oregon’s 6th District representative since 2023, following six years in the Oregon House of Representatives. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
