Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress and serves as Co-Chair of the bipartisan Mental Health Caucus, recently used her social media platform to address issues ranging from mental health care in Latino communities to local achievements and disability rights.
On July 25, Salinas highlighted her commitment to improving mental health access, particularly among Latino communities. She stated, “As Co-Chair of the bipartisan Mental Health Caucus and a proud Latina, I know how crucial it is to end the stigma around mental health care and improve access to care among Latino communities. Later that day, she recognized the City of Beaverton for its recent accomplishment as a finalist in a national competition. On July 25 she wrote, “This week, I took to the floor to congratulate the City of Beaverton for being selected as 1 of 50 finalists in the Bloomberg Philanthropy Challenge. This achievement serves as a testament to their dedication to improving the lives of all Oregonians. Cheers to their remarkable”.
The following day, Salinas turned her attention toward Disability Pride Month and commemorated a milestone for disability rights legislation. On July 26 she posted, “July is Disability Pride Month! Not just during July, but every month, we recognize the countless contributions of the disability community. As we celebrate 35 years of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), we recommit ourselves to working towards a more inclusive society.”
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously representing constituents in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 until her election at the federal level. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard, Salinas earned her bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley in 1994.
