Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, shared a series of posts on social media at the start of 2026 addressing health care policy and foreign affairs.
On January 1, Salinas posted a New Year’s message: “Happy New Year! I hope that 2026 treats you and your families well. I will continue working this year to ensure that our families can lead happy, healthy, and affordable lives.”
The following day, she criticized Republican lawmakers over health care policy: “Republicans did nothing to lower the cost of health care. @HouseDemocrats were ready to vote on a deal that would include extending these vital health care credits. Instead, Republicans turned their back on you and lied.” This statement comes amid ongoing debates in Congress regarding the extension of health care tax credits.
On January 3, Salinas commented on international developments involving Venezuela: “Without any approval or oversight from Congress, President Trump has overthrown the Venezuelan government. This is an act of war. Every member of Congress should be outraged that Trump is sidestepping our authority and dragging us into another conflict.”
Andrea Salinas was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. She previously served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023 before her election to Congress. Salinas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
