Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, shared updates on social media on February 18, 2026, addressing topics ranging from religious observance to health care policy and community college support.
In a message marking the beginning of Ramadan, Salinas posted: “Ramadan Mubarak! I’m wishing all who celebrate in #OR06 and across the world a peaceful and reflective holy month.” (February 18, 2026).
Later that day, she commented on health care costs and recent legislative actions: “Many Americans will pay double or triple their health care costs because Republicans REFUSED to extend cost-saving health care tax credits. On top of this, so many of our #OR06 neighbors will lose their health care entirely because of Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill. @HouseDemocrats and” (February 18, 2026).
In another post from February 18, Salinas highlighted her meeting with local education leaders: “I welcomed leaders from @Chemeketa and @PortlandCC to my D.C. office, where we discussed opportunities for funding and workforce readiness. In Congress, I’ll continue advocating for the resources needed to support our community colleges and their students here in #OR06.”
Salinas has been active in federal politics since her election to Congress in 2023 after serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard, she holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
