Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress and is a former member of the Oregon House of Representatives, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing federal environmental policy, healthcare costs, and mental health awareness.
On September 9, 2025, Salinas announced her efforts to increase public engagement regarding proposed changes to the Roadless Rule. She wrote: “Today, @RepYassAnsari and I led 51 colleagues in a letter urging Secretary Rollins and Chief Schultz to extend the Roadless Rule public comment period. Their proposal to repeal the Roadless Rule does not allow for MEANINGFUL public participation; it needs to be extended to 30”.
Later that day, Salinas criticized tariffs on imported medicines implemented by President Trump. In her post she stated: “Tariffs on imported medicines are a prescription for disaster. President Trump is making prescription drugs less available and more expensive. We need real solutions that will make medications affordable across the board.”
On September 10, marking World Suicide Prevention Day, Salinas highlighted mental health issues and available resources. She wrote: “Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. I know this is deeply personal to so many families, including mine. As Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Mental Health Caucus, I am committed to finding real solutions to stop this crisis. Know that 24/7, FREE, confidential help is available”.
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after representing her constituents in Oregon’s legislature from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard at age 53, Salinas earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
