Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently used her social media platform to address several legislative and policy issues.
On December 10, 2025, Salinas highlighted the passage of a bill aimed at supporting rural communities. She wrote, “Last night, the House just passed @RonWyden’s bill that helps fund schools, roads, and more in rural communities. I was proud to join the calls urging Speaker Johnson to pass the Secure Rural Schools Reauthorization Act as quickly as possible. Our rural areas deserve the”.
Later that day, Salinas commented on her ongoing oversight efforts regarding immigration detention practices under the previous presidential administration. In her post dated December 10, 2025, she stated, “I said what I said. I will keep calling out the Trump Administration’s abuses in our detention system and holding ICE, Homeland Security, and Trump’s allies accountable.”
In a third message posted on December 10, 2025, Salinas raised concerns about impending changes to health care tax credits. She warned of potential financial hardships for American families if these credits are not extended: “At the end of the month, tax credits that help Americans afford their health care premiums will EXPIRE. Families will be forced to choose between paying for health care or putting food on the table. Millions of people will be one diagnosis away from bankruptcy.”
Andrea Salinas has been active in public service since serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023 before being elected to Congress. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard, she holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley (1994).
