Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of messages on social media highlighting both cultural observances and political concerns.
On January 6, 2026, Salinas acknowledged a traditional Irish holiday for women by posting, “Happy Women’s Christmas or Nollaig na mBan, which is a traditional holiday in Ireland where women would take the day off to spend time with their friends after doing the bulk of the work for the holiday season. Just a reminder that some things are worth celebrating!”
The following day, she addressed policy issues affecting her home state: “Oregon has made vital progress expanding substance use treatment — but those advancements are now being undermined by the Trump Administration’s senseless cuts. We cannot let their cruelty deny those in need the help they deserve.” This statement comes as Oregon continues efforts to expand access to substance use treatment programs.
Later on January 7, Salinas encouraged constituents to stay informed about her legislative work by subscribing to her newsletter: ” REMINDER #OR06 Want an exclusive look into the work that I’m doing in Congress for you and your neighbors? Subscribe to my newsletter to get regular updates and stay in the know!”
Andrea Salinas has served as a member of Congress since 2023 and previously held office in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and resides in Tigard. Salinas earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
