Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently used her social media platform to address issues concerning veterans’ resources and the looming threat of a government shutdown.
On September 30, 2025, Salinas highlighted her visit to Salem with Representative Ted Lieu, stating, “Last week, @RepTedLieu and I were in #Salem to meet with Easterseals Oregon to discuss how federal funding can help veterans and their families access the resources they deserve. Hear more about our visit https://t.co/psLX6i4J9M”.
Hours later, as a government shutdown approached, Salinas criticized her Republican colleagues in a post dated October 1, 2025: “We are hours away from a government shutdown. My Republican colleagues are willing to leave hardworking families in the dust instead of coming to the table to keep the government open. I’m calling them out. https://t.co/KrLlVKAFHd”.
In another statement on October 1, Salinas directed followers to read her response on the shutdown situation: “Read my statement on Republicans shutting down the government. https://t.co/xRjK0aq9sc”.
Salinas, who was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and now resides in Tigard, has served Oregon both at the state and federal levels. Before her election to Congress in 2023, she was a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
