Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, marked the anniversary of key legislation and highlighted ongoing policy priorities in a series of tweets posted on August 6, 2025.
In one post commemorating an important civil rights milestone, Salinas stated, “Generations of Americans fought tirelessly for the sacred right to vote, and today, we celebrate 60 years since the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Our work to defend voting rights is not over. I’ll keep fighting to protect access to the ballot box so that every” (August 6, 2025).
Addressing healthcare concerns later that evening, she noted efforts by local facilities: “Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S., but independent facilities like Compass Oncology in #Tigard are making a difference. We’re working to ensure everyone has access to timely, affordable, and high-quality health care — no matter your zip code.” (August 6, 2025).
Earlier in the day, Salinas also commented on science and innovation policy: “Instead of holding back American scientists and inventors, the Administration should be working with Congress on smart, bipartisan solutions like mine. (3/3)” (August 6, 2025).
Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously representing her community in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in 1994.
