Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on August 26, 2025, addressing women’s rights, clean energy policy, and actions by former President Trump regarding the Federal Reserve.
In recognition of Women’s Equality Day, Salinas wrote: “Happy Women’s Equality Day! Today, we continue the fight to enforce equal pay for equal work, restore reproductive freedom, and ensure women have the opportunity to succeed. (1/2)” (August 26, 2025).
Later that day, she criticized recent federal decisions impacting renewable energy: “Cancelling clean energy makes no sense. Businesses like Cream Northwest in #Newberg rely on solar power for sustainable and affordable energy. The Trump Admin’s cuts to renewables mean higher energy bills for every business and family.” (August 26, 2025).
Addressing an attempt by Donald Trump to remove Dr. Lisa Cook from her position at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Salinas stated: “Trump’s attempt to fire Dr. Lisa Cook attacks the balance of power between the presidency and independent agencies. The Federal Reserve is not supposed to be a political tool. It was formed to be a steady hand to keep our economy strong. His decision has no legal basis and is a” (August 26, 2025).
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously holding office in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in 1994.
