Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on her social media accounts between October 1 and October 2, 2025, addressing both religious observance and current political events.
On October 1, Salinas extended wishes to her constituents observing Yom Kippur, stating: “Wishing a meaningful Yom Kippur to those observing in #OR06. G’mar Chatima Tovah!”
The following day, she commented on statements made by former President Donald Trump regarding events in Portland. On October 2, she wrote: “President Trump should know what an insurrection looks like⦠because despite what he says I can tell you that there is not one happening in Portland right now.

Later that day, Salinas addressed the ongoing government shutdown and criticized claims about Democratic unwillingness to negotiate. She posted: “It’s Thursday, October 2, and it’s Day 2 of the Republican government shutdown.
President Trump is out here spreading lies that Democrats do not want to negotiate with our colleagues on the other side. That is just fake news.

Andrea Salinas has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after previously holding office in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard at age 53. Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994.
