Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, announced a series of legislative and funding initiatives on May 14, 2026, via her official Twitter account.

In her first post on May 14, Salinas stated: “FUNDING SECURED: I am proud to announce $850,000 for the City of Keizer! This money will be used to construct new sidewalks along Verda Lane, creating a safer route for Keizer’s children to walk to school. Check out my call with Mayor Cathy Clark to hear me break the news!” The announcement highlights federal support aimed at improving pedestrian safety for local students.

Later that day, Salinas addressed energy policy and workforce development. On May 14 she wrote: “Geothermal energy can deliver clean, reliable, and affordable power while creating good-paying, union jobs — and #Oregon is ready to lead this work. @RepPatHarrigan and I introduced a bill to support the research, testing, and workforce development needed to meet our electricity”. This message underscores bipartisan efforts to advance geothermal energy as part of Oregon’s renewable energy strategy.

In another post from May 14 regarding environmental protections, Salinas commented: “HANDS OFF OUR PUBLIC LANDS To the Trump Administration: We will not stay silent as you attempt to demolish protections for 60 million acres of our most pristine national forest land and hurt our communities in the process. I am fighting to make sure we safeguard these”. Here she voiced opposition to potential rollbacks of federal land protections.

Andrea Salinas was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994. Before serving in Congress beginning in 2023, Salinas was a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 until her election to Congress.
