Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, has used her social media platform to highlight wage disparities faced by Latinas and advocate for legislative action on pay equity and healthcare.
On October 8, 2025, Salinas posted about pay inequality for Latinas in the United States. The same day, she reiterated her message in English: “Latinas are paid only 54 cents for every $1 paid to white men. As a proud Latina, I’m fighting to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act to ensure that every woman in the workforce has access to the fair and equal pay they deserve. We need equal pay for #Trabajadoras everywhere. Listen https://t.co/LxOtYniF4Y”
Later that day, Salinas addressed broader issues affecting American families and healthcare access. She wrote: “I know how Republicans can help hardworking Americans. They can cancel their cuts to health care. Extend the premium tax credits. Lower costs for families. Save health care. Help Oregonians. Reopen the government. Let’s start there.”
Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after representing constituents in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California, in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard, Oregon. Salinas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
