Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 7 and 8, 2026, addressing recent developments in health care policy and responding to an incident involving ICE in Minneapolis.
On January 7, Salinas criticized Republican lawmakers for their stance on ACA tax credits, stating, “Americans across the country, including some of our neighbors, will pay double or triple their health care costs because Republicans refused to extend cost-saving ACA tax credits. Republicans have the power to reverse this to save millions of Americans money.”
Later that day, she referenced her response to a separate event by posting, “Read my statement on the ICE shooting in Minneapolis. https://t.co/MyeTfYeFyt” on January 7.
The following day, Salinas discussed legislative action taken by House Democrats regarding health care affordability. She wrote on January 8: “House Democrats forced a vote on ACA tax credits over Speaker Johnson’s opposition. You can count on my vote to extend them. I call on my Republican colleagues to do the same so we can get this bill to the Senate ASAP. American families can’t afford to wait.”
Andrea Salinas has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
