Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on April 15, 2026, addressing tax policy and maternal health disparities.
In her first post on April 15, Salinas stated, “You shouldn’t have to pay to file your mandatory taxes. We must restore Direct File so that everyone can file for FREE.”
Later that day, she commented on recent tax policies: “Tax Day serves as a sad reminder that President Trump & Republicans gave MASSIVE tax cuts to the ultra wealthy that are 390 times the size of what they gave to workers and families making less than $50,000. Oregonians are suffering because Trump values dollars over people.”
In her final post of the evening, Salinas addressed racial disparities in maternal health outcomes: “In the U.S., Black women are two to three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. 80% of these deaths are preventable. We need to take action to ensure that all mothers have access to quality, affordable, culturally relevant maternal health”
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously holding office in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
