Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress and has served since 2023, addressed her constituents through a series of posts on September 23, 2025. Her messages ranged from holiday greetings to commentary on federal government negotiations and healthcare concerns.
In an early post marking the Jewish New Year, Salinas wrote: “Shanah Tovah! May this season of renewal bring you and your family peace, happiness, and good health. Shanah Tovah U’metukah!” (September 23, 2025).
Later that day, Salinas criticized congressional Republicans for failing to reach an agreement to fund the government: “Trump won’t meet with Democratic leaders & Speaker Johnson sent the House home without a deal on government funding. Republicans aren’t serious about governing or avoiding a shutdown. @HouseDemocrats support a bipartisan deal that keeps the government open & protects YOUR” (September 23, 2025).
In another message posted in the evening, she highlighted concerns about rising insurance premiums for those enrolled in Affordable Care Act plans: “If you are enrolled in the Affordable Care Act, your insurance premiums may spike. Use this calculator to find out if your premiums will go up: https://t.co/ausHUz2n5h I am fighting to extend them so you can afford to put food on the table & pay for your prescriptions.” (September 23, 2025).
Andrea Salinas was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Before being elected to Congress, she served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
