Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, addressed several issues ranging from immigration enforcement to agriculture and food prices in a series of posts on August 22, 2025.

In a post early that day, Salinas criticized former President Donald Trump’s approach to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating: “The Trump Administration’s mismanagement and misuse of ICE is hurting families, businesses, and our economy. We can be tough on crime AND be fair to those who came here for a better life. That’s not what Trump is doing.” (August 22, 2025)

Later the same day, she highlighted her visit to River Otter Farms in St. Paul: “I visited River Otter Farms in St. Paul last week to learn more about their blueberry harvest. I even got to pick a few! Proud to support the farms that keep #OR06 growing.” (August 22, 2025)

Addressing rising food costs, Salinas wrote: “Prices for vegetables rose by nearly 40% from June to July — the largest monthly increase ever recorded in a summer month. Instead of slashing your SNAP benefits, Republicans should focus on slashing food prices.” (August 22, 2025)

Andrea Salinas has served as the representative for Oregon’s newly created 6th Congressional District since 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard, she earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
