Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, addressed the recent government shutdown and actions by the Trump Administration in a series of posts on October 1, 2025.
In her first post, Salinas stated, “It’s a sad day in America. Republicans forced us into a government shutdown because they refused to come to the table and lower the cost of your health care. Hear my thoughts on this https://t.co/mWJdqFYvHH” (October 1, 2025).
Later that day, Salinas criticized federal actions in Oregon, writing, “What the Trump Administration is doing in Oregon is a clear abuse of power. This federal overreach ignores the rule of law and makes our communities less safe. I introduced a bill to prevent President Trump from using the National Guard as a political tool. She reiterated her position regarding the government shutdown with another post: “This shutdown is on Republicans. If Republicans want to meet us halfway, they need to protect your health care. https://t.co/Tg1eJduHx4” (October 1, 2025).
Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
