Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently used her social media platform to address political rhetoric and the ongoing health care debate in Washington.
On September 30, 2025, Salinas criticized inflammatory remarks made by an Arizona state legislator, stating, “Disturbingly, an Arizona state legislator recently targeted my colleague, @RepJayapal, with vile political speech. This rhetoric does not make our nation safer. Political violence can never be tolerated. Political threats can never be tolerated. It cannot be normalized — ever.”
Later that day, Salinas highlighted actions taken by House Democrats regarding health care legislation. She wrote on September 30, 2025: “This morning, I stood alongside my @HouseDemocrats colleagues to call out my Republican colleagues to CANCEL their vacation and come back to work to PROTECT your health care now. What are they afraid of?”
In a subsequent post on the same day, Salinas addressed what she described as a health care crisis resulting from legislation associated with former President Trump. She stated: “We are in a health care crisis thanks to President Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill. Here is the kicker: Republicans are pushing us even closer to disaster. If they don’t come to the table and keep the government open, premiums could skyrocket as much as 90% in rural areas.”
Salinas has a background in public service, having served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023 before being elected to Congress. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
