Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, has recently voiced concerns on social media regarding proposed Republican budget cuts and their potential impact on her constituents.

On August 7, 2025, Salinas posted about the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), stating that “The Republican budget threatens roughly 100,000 people in our community who rely on SNAP. Yesterday, I held a roundtable with anti-hunger advocates and government officials to discuss Republicans’ disastrous cuts and how they are out of line with Oregonian values.”

Later that day, she addressed issues facing veterans’ health care. In a post dated August 7, 2025, Salinas wrote: “Our veterans put their lives on the line for our country. The least we can do is provide them quality health care & benefits. Instead of serving our veterans, President Trump & Republicans are defunding the VA, firing doctors & workers, and making it harder for veterans to get”.

In another statement from August 7, 2025, Salinas criticized a legislative proposal she referred to as “Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill.” She said: “Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill is outright UGLY. It will force more than 15 million off their health care while skyrocketing costs for millions more. We should be strengthening Medicare and Medicaid, not ripping care away. I’ll keep working until everyone has the care they”.

Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously holding office in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard at age 53, Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
