Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, criticized congressional Republicans and former President Trump in a series of tweets posted on November 5, 2025. In her posts, she addressed issues related to the ongoing government shutdown and delays in SNAP funding.
On November 5, 2025, Salinas wrote: “Republicans are on their record-breaking vacation when they should be at the negotiating table, working to reopen the government. @HouseDemocrats are united to reopen the government, safeguard health care, and lower the cost of living.”
Later that day, Salinas turned her attention to food assistance programs: “SNAP funding is held up because of Trump’s illegal delays. President Trump and his Administration have decided that it is okay to let children, families, and your neighbors starve — they need to put a stop to this cruelty. (1/2)” She followed up with information for those seeking help: “If you or a loved one is in need of food resources, please visit https://t.co/Ka7ZyOykPS to find available resources near you. (2/2)”
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after representing her constituents in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 through 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard, she holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
