Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. House of Representatives, has recently voiced concerns on social media about rising health care premiums and the ongoing government shutdown.
On October 2, 2025, Salinas posted: “16,000 folks in #OR06 will see their premiums increase by around $1,500 per month. That’s right, 16,000 people. That’s outrageous. Americans shouldn’t be pawns in Republicans’ political games.” She encouraged followers to watch her interview with BBC for more information.
Later that day, she addressed actions by the Trump administration: “The Trump administration is once again breaking the law by weaponizing federal agencies to push blatantly partisan propaganda. He can’t leverage agencies for political gain, and he can’t put words in federal employees’ mouths.”
On October 3, 2025, Salinas warned about the impact of a government shutdown: “Americans will start to feel the negative effects of the shutdown. They will feel it at airports, they will feel it when they need assistance from federal agencies, & more. Republicans, open the government & protect health care so the American people do not have to pay the”
Andrea Salinas has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard at age 53, Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994.
