Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on July 22, 2025, addressing her legislative priorities and concerns about recent federal policy changes.
In her first tweet at 17:54 UTC, Salinas highlighted her commitment to rural communities and agricultural policy as a member of the House Agriculture Committee. She wrote, “As a member of @HouseAgDems, I’m working to ensure our rural communities have the support they need, and I am committed to passing a Farm Bill that supports our farmers and producers. I spoke with @agripulse about how I am fighting to ensure that #OR06 has a seat at the https://t.co/fTNCcc56AE”.
Later that day at 18:41 UTC, Salinas criticized what she referred to as “The Big, Ugly Tax Law,” warning of its potential effects on American families. She stated, “The Big, Ugly Tax Law will impact so many Americans across the country. From high energy prices to reduced SNAP benefits, hardworking families who are trying to make ends meet will struggle, all because President Trump cares more about his billionaire buddies.”
At 20:18 UTC on the same day, Salinas continued her criticism of former President Donald Trump’s policies regarding food assistance programs. She tweeted, “President Trump gutted food assistance, and it’s taking a toll on our communities. Marion Polk Food Share will receive HALF the food it normally does. The number of people seeking assistance will only grow, thanks to Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill. https://t.co/Vq2o8Gtfdx”.
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously holding office in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard, Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree.
