Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, posted a series of tweets on April 14, 2026, addressing concerns over federal forest policy and environmental protections.
In a tweet published at 20:02 UTC, Salinas wrote: “President Trump is dismantling the U.S. Forest Service right in front of our eyes. By slashing research facilities and forcing folks out of their jobs, our nation’s forests will become even more vulnerable to wildfires. As Oregonians, we understand just how devastating this will”.
Later that evening at 22:04 UTC, she continued her criticism regarding forest management and climate policy: “Our nation’s pristine forests face a dual threat — climate change and Trump’s attacks on our environment. I spoke with Sierra Club, Oregon Wild, and partners about Trump’s cruel attempts to repeal the Roadless Rule, which would threaten nearly 2 million acres of protected forest”.
In between these posts, Salinas also acknowledged Vaisakhi celebrations at 21:00 UTC by stating: “Happy Vaisakhi to all who celebrate! Wishing you and your family a joyous celebration!”
Andrea Salinas was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. She earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994. Before serving in Congress, she was a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023.
The Roadless Rule referenced by Salinas is a federal regulation designed to limit road construction and logging on designated public lands. Environmental groups such as Sierra Club and Oregon Wild have been vocal about preserving these protections amid ongoing debates about land use policies.
