Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on May 20, 2026, addressing immigration policies, mental health workforce barriers, and healthcare tax credits.
In her first tweet at 17:17 UTC, Salinas criticized the immigration policies under President Trump, stating: “President Trump’s inhumane immigration policies are making women like Marta less safe. It is UNACCEPTABLE that Marta was detained and separated from her children. As a mother, these stories make me furious.”
Later the same day at 18:33 UTC, she turned to mental health workforce issues, writing: “We need to make it EASIER for people to enter the mental health workforce, NOT HARDER. One of the key barriers to entry for students who want to be mental health providers is the price tag for a degree. The Trump Administration’s loan caps will only worsen the provider”
At 19:41 UTC, Salinas addressed healthcare tax credits and Republican actions in Congress: “Republicans had a choice. Instead of joining @HouseDemocrats to extend cost-saving healthcare tax credits, they let them expire.”
Andrea Salinas has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after representing parts of Oregon in the state House from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
