Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed issues ranging from mental health in older adults to challenges faced by local farmers and concerns about federal tax policy in a series of posts on social media.

On August 11, 2025, Salinas highlighted the significance of mental health across all age groups, especially among older adults. She stated, “Mental health is so important for everyone, from our youngest to our oldest citizens. Older adulthood can bring health challenges & life transitions, but depression isn’t an inevitable part of aging. With the right care, our community can help older adults thrive.”

Later that day, she discussed her engagement with agricultural communities in Oregon. In a post dated August 11, 2025, Salinas wrote: “Providing farmers with the right tools is crucial for their success. I visited Papé Machinery in McMinnville to learn more about how they supply farmers with essential equipment. I also hosted a roundtable with local growers to discuss their challenges and how I can support”.

The following day, on August 12, 2025, Salinas criticized recent federal tax legislation and its projected impact on Oregon residents. She posted: “The truth about the Big, Ugly Tax Scam is that more people will become sicker, hungrier, and poorer. In Oregon, we will lose $15 billion in federal funding because Republicans chose to give BIG tax breaks to billionaires instead of helping hardworking Americans.”

Andrea Salinas has represented Oregon’s 6th District since 2023 after serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
