Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, used her Twitter account on May 7, 2026, to address issues ranging from wildfire preparedness to local funding and national economic policy.
In her first post of the day, Salinas warned about potential environmental threats: “This could be a catastrophic wildfire season. While the Trump Administration is undermining our preparedness, I’m focused on making sure Oregonians, their homes, and their livelihoods stay safe.” (May 7, 2026).
Later that day, she highlighted federal support for local government: “Watch me give the good news to Newberg Mayor Bill Rosacker that $750,000 is heading their way!” (May 7, 2026).
In a third tweet posted in the afternoon, Salinas criticized Republican lawmakers over affordability concerns: ” Screaming this from the rooftops, but Republicans have done NOTHING to make your life affordable.” (May 7, 2026).
Salinas’s comments come amid ongoing debates about federal disaster preparedness and economic policy. She has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after previously representing constituents in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard at age 53, Salinas graduated with a BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
