Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on September 17, 2025, addressing youth engagement in coding, mental health support for LGBTQ+ youth, and her stance on constitutional rights.
In an early post on September 17, Salinas encouraged middle and high school students interested in coding to participate in a technology competition. She wrote: “Calling all #OR06 middle or high schoolers interested in coding! My office is now taking applications for my Congressional App Challenge! Visit https://t.co/VLVa6kqIaI to learn more about how you can apply. Applications are due by October 30, 2025, by 12 PM ET.”
Later that day, Salinas addressed mental health resources for LGBTQ+ youth alongside another member of Congress. She stated: “Hear from @RepBeccaB and me about our commitment to reinstate the specialized LGBTQ+ youth helpline within the @988Lifeline and our promise to support our LGBTQ+ community members. As a reminder, 988 is still operating, so if you or someone you love is in crisis, please do not” (September 17).
On the same day, referencing Constitution Day—the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution—Salinas commented on contemporary political issues involving former President Trump. She posted: “On this day in 1787, the United States Constitution was signed. No one is above the Constitution. Not even President Trump. As he continues to attack and bypass our constitutional rights, I am committed to fighting back against his un-American agenda and protecting your” (September 17).
Andrea Salinas has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after previously holding office in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard at age 53, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
