Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to highlight her ongoing efforts in education and equal pay advocacy.
On September 17, 2025, Salinas shared her participation at a leadership event: “Yesterday, I spoke at @CHCI’s Leadership Conference, where I shared an update on my work to ensure more Latino students can access resources for academic success. As Republicans attack our public schools, I’ll continue fighting for quality education for all of our students.”
The following day, she marked the anniversary of landmark legislation with a post stating: “62 years ago, the Equal Pay Act was signed into law, prohibiting pay discrimination on the basis of gender. As a member of the @DemWomenCaucus, I am committed to closing the wage gap and ensuring all Americans receive the equal pay they deserve. #EqualPayAct” (September 18, 2025).
Later that same day, Salinas addressed recent changes to federal funding for early childhood education programs: “Head Start has been working since 1965 to ensure that children have access to quality education. Now, the Trump Administration is cutting funding from Head Start — denying children access to education. When I met with Oregon Head Start, I made a promise to protect this vital” (September 18, 2025).
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after representing constituents in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 through 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
