Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, used her social media platform on December 12, 2025, to highlight legislative efforts aimed at improving access to mental health care across Oregon.
In a series of posts, Salinas addressed the disparities faced by residents in rural and underserved areas. On December 12, she wrote: “Where you live shouldn’t determine the mental health care you receive. But too often, folks in rural and underserved corners of Oregon struggle because there aren’t enough providers nearby, and the wait for care is too long. (1/3)”
She continued by outlining how proposed legislation seeks to address these issues: “Our bill helps change that by making degrees in mental and behavioral health more affordable and by helping new clinicians build their careers in the communities that need them most. (2/3)”
Expressing appreciation for bipartisan support, Salinas added: “I’m grateful to my colleagues for standing with me to make sure every Oregonian, regardless of where they live, can access the care they deserve.”
Andrea Salinas was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994. Before her election to Congress, she served as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023.
