Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted her legislative and community activities on social media, focusing on environmental innovation and bipartisan science policy.

On August 5, 2025, Salinas shared details of a recent site visit: “I recently toured Recology’s Aumsville facility, where they are implementing innovative strategies to increase access to composting and recycling. Climate-smart infrastructure like this moves us toward a cleaner and healthier future for generations to come. https://t.co/RJ9FIfNTfL”

The following day, she addressed her work as a member of the House Science Committee: “As a member of @sciencedems, I work across the aisle to give businesses the tools to discover new ideas and create new technology. We recently passed a bipartisan bill to support research in areas like biotech — the same kind of science the Trump Administration is now working” She further criticized federal leadership on scientific issues: “The Trump Administration is undermining America’s role as a world leader in science and medicine. That could put our health and jobs at risk. (1/3)”

Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously representing constituents in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard at age 53. Salinas earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
